Description

Secondary bathroom renovation in a 1970s ranch, gutted to the studs. Walk-in shower with frameless glass and a bench, new tile and flooring, custom solid-wood cabinetry and solid-surface countertops. HCB self-performed approximately 75% of the trade work.

02 — The work

Demolition through tile, in sequence.

    Demolition

    Oak Crest — bathroom demolished back to the studs
  2. Oak Crest — open walls after demolition
  3. 03

    Plumbing rough-in

    Oak Crest — plumbing rough-in for the new walk-in shower
  4. Oak Crest — supply and drain lines set in the open wall
  5. 05

    Framing

    Oak Crest — framing for the new shower and bench
  6. Oak Crest — framed shower enclosure and bench structure
  7. Oak Crest — framing complete and ready for backer board
  8. 08

    Backer board

    Oak Crest — cement backer board installed in the shower
  9. Oak Crest — backer board seams prepared for waterproofing

    Waterproofing

    Oak Crest — waterproofing membrane applied to the shower walls and bench
